Dear Yuletide Author

Dear Yuletide Author

It's that time of the year again when we frantically try to add a little writing time to our daily schedules. I for one, love to have a legitimate excuse to sit at the local coffee shop and pour through all my favorite shows while I make my story charts. :)

For my requests, I generally prefer a story that adds a unique perspective to the established Canon. But you don't have to worry about that, if you have an idea you really want to work with, then I strongly recommend that you do that story. As long as it doesn't hit my DNW's, I really don't mind. Feel free to use any of the plot suggestions I will be offering, but please feel free to either write the story you want to.

Do Not Wants:

Non Consent
Emotional/Physical Abuse
OOC Characterization

I Really Like These:

Food references
In character characters

Your story need not be focused around these, but please try to not use the DNW's. :)

Hoozuki no Reitetsu:

I was not really expecting anything when I started watching this show, but a few episodes in I was absolutely in love with it. Being a big fan of mythology, I found the segments lovely to watch. I especially love Hoozuki's approach to work. Such a dedicated man. :3

My favourite pairing for this show is hands down Hoozuki x Hakutaku. I love rival ships, and these two both make me laugh and make me think that if they can work past their differences, they would be great together. I love the humor, I love finding out new things, and I love the thought that these two could possibly really make each other laugh and enjoy each other's company.

1) A Story that shows how Hakutaku and Hoozuki fell in love. Fluff, romance, slice of life.
2) Hoozuki and Hakutaku are desperate to prove to each other that they are better than the other at everything. Cue a series of competitions ranging from Jenga to a cook off. Meanwhile, Enma and company are just happy to keep score and eat all the delicious food these two make.
3) Christmas isn't all about partying and drinking. Hakutaku refuses to believe that, and when he gets into a drunken debate at a banquet with Hoozuki about what the Christmas spirit really is, Hoozuki takes it upon himself to show Hakutaku the true meaning of Christmas.

Oushitsu Kyoshi Heine

A short little man with a brain that rivals the greatest to have ever lived? I love it. Especially the short part. See, I'm kinda short too, I really relate to Heine. What I like the most about the show is that it always gives me a feel good experience each time I watch it. After a hard day at work, kicking back and relaxing to this show was something I looked forward to each week.

1) Leonhard thinks Christmas desserts are the best part of the Christmas experience. His brothers disagree. Licht thinks it's all the pretty women dressed up spectacularly and Bruno loves getting time off to focus on his research. Heine sees this as a chance to bring the family together and educate them on the spirit of Christmas.
2)A Christmas banquet has to be made, but the head chef had to rush back home to tend to a sick mother. A rumor quickly spreads that Heine could perhaps save the day, and the brothers are more than ecstatic to taste Heine's cooking. How will Heine get himself out of cooking for some of the best palates in the country? And will they like his food?
3) Leonhard can get very possessive about the people he loves. And recently, he has been feeling very possessive about Heine. He already dislikes having his time with Heine reduced because of his brothers, but when he hears a rumor that Heine has been receiving secret notes from someone in the palace, he vows to find out who it is.

Mob Psycho 100:

I remember binge watching this show starting at midnight last winter and feeling a hole in my chest once I realised that this show was over and I could find nothing else like it. Ghosts, drama, emotions, action, superpowers, an OP MC who is clueless about himself - I am in love with this premise.

1) A Christmas Carol spin on the show. Reigen finds himself harassed by a ghost who fears for his future and wants to show him the past. Clueless, Reigen makes Shigeo accompany him as they time travel through their past, present and future, learning something about the true spirit of Christmas along the way.
2) Future!fic. Shigeo comes back home after completing University, completely intending to keep his promise to Reigen to help with the business. By the time he returns, the business is barely holding itself together. Shigeo and Reigen work together to make the best ghost busting team in the city, now if only they could stop their hearts from throbbing when they get too close to each other. They meet befuddled clients, arrogant ghosts and the flutter of romance along the way.
3)Shigeo is worried that he is growing too distant from Ritsu, so he turns to Reigen for help. Reigen comes up with innovative ways for the two brothers to bond, except when Shigeo tries them on his brother, the resulting hilarity is something only Reigen can enjoy. Ex:Bringing Ritsu to work so the brothers can bond there. Of course the only person benefitting here is Reigen. Family bonding and fluff.

are you alice

Dear Yuletide Author...

Dear Yuletide Author,

How are you? I am so glad that I was matched up with you! I hope you got something you wanted, since I want you to have loads of fun when you write it!! Well, I am sure that I will love whatever you write, and I really want to thank you for taking the time out to do this.

Well, before I go into specific things I like about the three fandoms, I thought I might add a list of my likes and dislikes. These are pretty universal for me, so I hope this helps when you're writing your story!

Character Death
Smut/PWP's (I don't really mind sex in stories, I'm just not too keen on stories that focus just on that).
OOCness without reason
Self Harm
OC's in a Major Role (Unless needed for plot reasons)

Happy Endings
Character Bonding
Romantic Development

As for the specific fandoms themselves, I thought I should mention why I picked that fandom, what I like about it and some kinds of stories I might be interested in reading. I wanted to focus more on what I liked in the show and what I like about the characters. I'm not very keen on giving prompts, mostly because I don't want you to be held back by any ideas I have, especially since I'm not very good at writing prompts... However, I thought I might mention a few along the way as they came to me, but please don't be pressured into writing them. I would love to read your take on these stories, and anything given below is purely optional. ∩( ・ω・)∩

Request 1: Hunter X Hunter (2011 Anime)
Characters Requested: Gon Freecs, Killua Zoldyck, Leorio Paladiknight, Kurapika

HunterXHunter is my go-to happy show. There's just something about this series that instantly brightens up my day. I had watched the original HunterXHunter anime when I was much younger, but I like this version almost a million times more! That is probably because this is the show that helped me reconnect with my sister, and therefore it's really special for me. I love everything about it!

I adore the nominated characters! I remember a time when I hated the arc in Yorkshin City because I realized after seeing Kurapika that they wouldn't be a group of four people having fun adventures. But in retrospect, I appreciate that they each have their own stories, motivations, dreams and choices. But I was young back then... and I am still a bit bitter about it... (completely embarrassed about this). But then again, watching Gon and Killua part ways near the end hurt a lot inside... even though I understand that the characters need their space to grow and see the world for themselves.

Well, rambling aside I would love to read something that stays close to the spirit of the story, since that it what first drew me to the show. I am not really a big fan of tragedy or angst, but I'm okay with reading them as long as they aren't the central themes in the story. I'm also fine with whatever direction you want to take the characters in, like if it's a story where they are just friends, set at a time when they didn't know each other or even having them romantically involved. Although I do prefer having some kind of a backstory in the latter case, like how they became lovers, or something to that effect.

My absolutely all-time favorite from these four is Killua! Mostly because he has the snappiest dialogues. But I really love the other three to death! I like how Gon trusts his instincts and what he does to the point that Killua sometimes calls him selfish, I really find that kind of drive admirable. I love how Leorio, despite appearing to be the weakest fighter among the four also has the biggest heart and would do anything if it meant helping a friend. And Kurapika is someone I find extremely intriguing, he has suffered a traumatic past that damaged him really badly and he does what he can to satiate that pain.

When it comes to HunterXHunter, I like to read action/adventure stories - maybe them meeting up after many years to solve an impending crisis? I am quite interested in what kind of futures they might have, and how they might grow during that period. For example, I am of the opinion that Ging could easily run out on his son again, or that Alluka might eventually want to travel the world by herself. I would love to see the four nominated characters come together and show each other how much they have grown.

But that is just an idea. I would love any story written about the four of them really, and if you want to take it in a romantic direction, then my favoured pairings are Gon/Killua and Leorio/Kurapika. It's totally cool if you want to mix up the pairings, or avoid them all together. Seeing these characters interact always makes my day, and I am comfortable with anything you want to write.

Fandom 2: Peacemaker Kurogane
Characters Requested: Hijikata Toshizou, Ichimura Tetsunosuke, Saitou Hajime, Okita Souji

I have always been a fan of the Shinsengumi, and this show is very close to my heart. I enjoy the comical banter as well as the more serious overtones in the story. I usually prefer stories that make me think about everything happening as the story progresses.

I really love all the characters nominated for this fandom, and I would love to see more interactions between them. I see a lot of different shows featuring the Shinsengumi. My favourite character in the show is Okita Souji, I love how he was portrayed in the show.
I also remember enjoying his sense of humor, and consequently the effects of his illness came off as that much more painful and heartbreaking.

I think Saitou Hajime is interesting in this creation too. I really was not expecting the interpretation I got, but it did feel really fresh and original. I can easily imagine a humorous ghost story involving these characters with Hajime leading the way. I like Hijikata too, though sometimes I flinch at the decisions he takes... for example, sending Ayu to investigate the imperial loyalists after Yamazaki failed. That sounded like a sacrifice more than a mission, and it affected me pretty badly I suppose. I do have problems with leaders not thinking things through before making their final decisions. I think Tetsunosuke is really interesting, his energy is something the show needed and through him I feel that I can see the period they are showing through a new perspective.

I read a lot about the Shinsengumi, I  twisted my dissertation around so I could include a section on the Shinsengumi. This is something I will never regret. I find them fascinating.  Add to that that finally I came across something that had Tetsunosuke in it. That was the main reason I first started watching it.

I personally want to read whatever you wanted to write on this story. I mostly watched it till the anime ended, mainly because I didn't want to stray into the dangerous territory of Heisuke's death (this crushes me every time. Books, movies, period dramas, Hakuoki... I cannot stand to watch Heisuke's death at all.. he was always my favourite from the Corps). But I am aware of the general history till the fall of the Shinsengumi, so if you wanted to write something based off the manga, then I wouldn't mind at all.  But, I would like to suggest that if you do decide to base the story off off history, or maybe some gray area of history not covered by Peacemaker Kurogane, that you might not stray too far off from what happened historically? I like historical fiction to still have an element of truth behind it. But of course, if you don't want to use history but want to write any other kind of story, then that's brilliant too!

As for what kinds of relationships I like with the characters, I love HijikataXSouji. And I think Ichimura sees everyone else as mentors. Souji might be considered his friend, but I definitely see the other two as authority figures in his life. Saitou was always this mysterious and powerful guy. I find them all really entertaining, and I would love to read something that perhaps focuses on the political tensions of the period. I don't really like sad stories, but maybe a slice of life of the Shinsengumi, or something comical that uses all four characters. Well, I hope you enjoy writing this story. As far as pairings go, in my opinion any kind of pairings can work in any story depending on what the author has in mind, so please don't feel restricted by my usual favourites. Also, if you don't like these pairings, or don't want to write a romantic story, that is fine as well! I love this show and I'm sure that I will enjoy reading whatever you enjoy writing.

Fandom: Saiyuki Gaiden
Characters Requested: Kenren Taishou, Tenpou Gensui, Kanzeon Bosatsu, Goujun

The first thing that usually comes to mind when I think about Saiyuki Gaiden is the need for a soft pillow and the endless streams of tears that come with each new chapter. Keeping that in mind, I am interested in a story that explores something outside of that pain. Since I am more acquainted with the harsh trials that the characters undergo in the story, I am keen to read about things that are more positive.

Kanzeon Bosatsu is hands down my favourite out of these four right now. I keep questioning her motives, and I see her as someone not exactly as merciful as her title would have me believe, but having just enough sense that separates her from the other factions. She's eccentric enough to maneuver her way through war while still creating an ending that suits her needs the best. As for Tenpou and Kenren, much like Gojyo and Hakkai, I find them the most interesting while they interact with each other. I think they make a wonderful team!

On a more interesting note, I find the whole 'Goujun is Hakuryu' idea really interesting. This was told to me by my friend, and I found it floating around the internet too. I'm not sure if it's absolutely true or not, but irrespective of that, the thought of Tenpou's superior being reincarnated as his beloved pet dragon that magically transforms into a jeep is a bit... :D . It does show his character in a whole new light, and I've read that this is just popular fanon. But I love Goujun is curious about these people since the beginning. And I probably wouldn't have picked up on it if it wasn't pointed out to me. Since I just found this bit out recently, and am not sure whether you knew from before or not, I'm just going to add the interview I read this on.I'm still not sure if this is canon though, since Minekura says that 'Goujun is most likely Jeep', and that isn't the same as saying he is Hakuryu, but it does help me to see this character in a new light.

I should probably stop here. This show is so precious to me that I probably wouldn't stop writing this description until someone pried me away from my laptop. But... I hope you enjoy writing whatever you choose to write!

I would like to read a story that in set in the canon world. I am a bit interested in the political climate during Saiyuki Gaiden, and I feel that each of these characters viewed everything that was happening around them in very different yet surprisingly similar ways. I also like how these four characters in particular are very different when it comes to how they interact with the world, yet it feels as if they are very much alike.

Well, I ended up writing a whole lot more than I had originally anticipated... I really do apologize for that. And thank you so much for taking the time to write this story! I do want to add that you don't really have to write about some of the prompts I mentioned. :) I tried to focus more on what I liked about the story and the characters because of that. I would love to read whatever you chose to write and I'm sure I will love it!

I hope you enjoy writing the story!!! I can't wait for what you will ultimately create! Good luck!
